U.S. rapper and hip hop artist Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, known professionally as Cardi B, appears at Queens criminal arraignment court on misdeameanor charges stemming from an alleged assault at a Queens strip club last summer.

Cardi B was charged with misdemeanor assault and reckless endangerment.

She stood wordlessly with her hands clasped behind her back, before exiting with her lawyer through a throng of television cameras and photographers waiting outside and getting into a vehicle.

They say a fight broke out during which chairs, bottles and hookah water pipes were thrown, slightly injuring the woman and another employee.

As she left a person in the crowd yelled a question about her Grammy nomination announced this morning on CBS. She appeared in court wearing long rainbow hair and Christian Louboutin boots, along with a floppy hat and a fur-trimmed jacket.

Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, was released on her own recognizance. The judge declined to set bail.

Investigators were exploring whether the fracas involved a romantic dispute.

On a day when Cardi B bagged several nominations at the upcoming 61st annual GRAMMY awards, including for "Album of The Year", she received some bad news from the judge in her assault case.

On Friday, the judge ordered Cardi B to avoid contact with the bartenders, a spokesperson for the Queens District Attorney told CNN.

Video that circulated on social media showed Cardi B lunging toward someone and being held back at the Harper's Bazaar Icons party.
