FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is appealing his $13,369 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct for dropping $21 into the Salvation Army kettle following a Thanksgiving Day touchdown against the Washington Redskins. "We know that buying a toy may not be in some people's budget this year, but maybe a $5 or $10 donation is something they can do that will absolutely make a difference".

A Salvation Army bell ringer left his post and took off with the donation kettle at Woodman's Market Tuesday afternoon.

The Salvation Army said the card readers weren't as successful as they had hoped.

"What I'm telling my bell ringers and my volunteers is that it's a real sign of approval", he said. "I'll pay the little fine".

Quarterback Dak Prescott was given a warning by the National Football League after he was dropped into the kettle by Elliott after a touchdown run later in the win against the Redskins. They cover the seven counties listed above, but you can only find kettles in Putnam, Kanawha, Roane, and Logan counties.

The NFL, however, could look a little better by donating the $13,000 to the Salvation Army.
