If the predictions of Ming-Chi Kuo turns out to be true, then we might see "wireless charging support" in the revamped AirPods although it is still unclear whether there will be an upgraded case or the earpiece themselves. At least, that's according to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a new note to clients. The ASP of the hinge of the new charging box will rise by 60-80% because of spec upgrades for appearance design changes and higher thermal requirements.

Although the updated earbuds were originally rumoured to launch alongside the iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR back in September, the latest models have now purportedly been pushed back into the new year. This will be followed by the launch of an entirely new model of the headphones in 2020 he said. The new product, scheduled to arrive in the following months will have a wireless charging case. In fact, the surprising thing here is that Apple hasn't released an update sooner than expected, as it usually outputs product refreshes yearly. If Apple has a pleasant surprise waiting for us with the introduction of the updated silicon, we will be waiting to see what they have been working on. Unfortunately, the virtual assistant Siri can not be activated via the AirPods. Bluetooth 5.0 also includes a longer range and faster data transfer speed, which could improve audio streaming performance. There's also a possibility the upgraded AirPods might be water resistant and will feature noise cancellation. There is no word on whether or not the Airpower Mat will be involved with this "wireless charging support", although it would make a lot of sense if it were. New AirPods were largely expected to launch this fall, but Apple didn't mention them in both of its events this year.
