"The result is a truck that looks like a piece of heavy machinery with modern, chiseled finishes and customer-focused details", Izard said. "As such, we built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for them that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing technologies to improve towing confidence and includes new features such as the integrated Bedstep, which makes it easier to access the bed while pulling a fifth-wheel trailer".

The other engine is a Duramax turbodiesel that makes 910 lb-ft of torque, the same amount as the current Silverado HD engine makes, but Chevy said this engine is all-new, so it might be an updated version of the old 6.6-litre.

Chevrolet has pulled back what must have been a very, very big sheet on its 2020 Silverado 2500HD, with a new look created to better separate it from the "regular duty" Silverado 1500 launched earlier this year. No interior photos have been released, but it should be close in appearance to that of the half-ton truck.

Here is one of the most boldly styled new trucks to come along since. well, since the new 2019 Silverado 1500 appeared with its polarizing looks. However, the automaker did mention that it benefits from some design changes as well.

The redesigned Heavy Duty pickup features up to three inches of additional legroom for rear-seat passengers in the crew-cab configuration, with a taller seating position for front seat occupants. Full specs aren't given for either engine, but Chevrolet says the gas engine is completely new and will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission; the current V-8 is a 6.0-liter Vortec unit that makes 360 horsepower.

Under the hood, the 2020 Silverado HD will get two engine choices. Power is then shifted through a new Allison ten-speed automatic transmission. Chevy says that the Silverado HD will see "significant increases" when it comes to payload and towing-the brand surely wants to best the class-leading Ford F-Series Super Duty's maximum towing figures. It is set to go on sale in mid-2019.
