Wizards Unite uses augmented reality and features similar gameplay mechanics to Pokemon Go.

That all changed today, though.

A teaser trailer for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has been released. The teaser trailer is just 31 seconds long altogether and doesn't include any gameplay footage. As the wizarding world bleeds into the muggle world, players are called upon to help stop the problem. Traces of magic are appearing across the Muggle world without warning and in a rather chaotic manner.

Wizards and witches around the world, this is a huge day for the Harry Potter community!

The game arrives in 2019 but excited fans can head over to wizardsunite.com to get their immersive experience started. Portkey Games teamed with mobile games studio Jam City for "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery", a mobile RPG that has grossed $90 million in revenue and has over 41 million installs worldwide since launching in April, according to research firm App Annie. This one has Harry's, Hermoine's, and Ron's wands coming together to form the "A" in "Wizards".

Wizarding World-related games are not a new concept; however, this title could end up being massive business. Niantic had already stated that the game would include famous characters so an appearance from the Golden Trio seems all but confirmed.

Fans have also pointed out that the logo bears a similarity to the logo for the Harry Potter spin-off movies, Fantastic Beasts. It's possible then, that Newt Scamander could show up in the game too, possibly as part of a tie-in event.

We'll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Harry Potter: Wizards Unite as soon as more information becomes available.
