Western Town specifically was built for TV productions in the 1950s and was used for such westerns as "The Cisco Kid" and "Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theatre". Ownership of the ranch has changed hands multiple times over the decades since.

A spokesperson for HBO told The Wrap that Westworld has used the Paramount Ranch location for Main Street, but the Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy sci-fi series also films at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita. HBO said it did not know the extent of the damage and expressed concern for "all those affected by these awful fires".

When not in use for filming, visitors could stroll through Western Town while hiking or ride through on horseback.

The Malibu, Calabasas and Agoura areas are all under evacuation due to the fast-moving Woolsey fire, and numerous entertainment figures have been forced to leave the area, battling massive traffic jams.

Woods was not among those displaced, tweeting that he was on the East Coast.
