Fifteen migrant children found in refrigerated lorry

After being discovered by agents from the Border Force, 17 of the group initially claimed to be minors.

The group of people were detained last Thursday after police found them inside a refrigerated container on a truck driven by a Romanian man, The Independent reported.

A Romanian man believed to have been driving the vehicle has been charged with assisting unlawful entry to the UK. The 15 children and six adults were found inside the lorry, when it was stopped on arrival from Dieppe in France.

The children were said to be "fine" and did not require medical treatment. The children were placed in the care of social services.

An 18-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have since been removed from the United Kingdom, with the remaining eight, aged between 21 and 28, reporting regularly to the Home Office while their cases are progressed.

On the same day a stunned villager in Mereworth, Kent, spotted 13 young men with sleeping bags being let out of the back of a Bulgarian HGV. Seven - thought to be Eritrean nationals - were handed over to immigration officials in Dover.
