Keira Knightley is now promoting her new Disney movie The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

During her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, Keira, 33, revealed her young daughter Edie isn't allowed to watch Cinderella and The Little Mermaid because she believes they aren't independent women.

"'Cinderella", Knightley said. "Banned, because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her". "Don't. Rescue yourself, obviously".

Taking aim at Ariel and her choice to give up her voice in exchange of becoming human and bagging the man of her dreams, Keira continued: 'And this is the one that I'm quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but Little Mermaid [is banned, too].

Not all Disney movies are off limits for little Edie though.

"'Finding Dory" is a big favorite in our house", she said. "'Frozen" is huge, "Moana' totally fine", she shared.

"There's some good ones, but mainly Dory", DeGeneres quipped back.

The mother also talked about her daughter's wild aspirations in life.

'Now she wants to a be a lion, she roars very well. Ellen asked. "Would you like that or does it matter to you if she wants to be in this business?" Even if she wanted to be an actress, I'm going to support her in anything she wants to do.

The star did, however, list one movie that she allowed.
