Tom Brady: Josh Gordon 'Really Eager To Learn Everything'

If he does play, it will be for a limited number of snaps as Gordon has a lot of catching up to do.

But Belichick has been quiet on Gordon's struggles with substance abuse and the circumstances that landed him in New England.

"There are terms that have to be met before the trade is finalized", Belichick said during a puzzling press conference.

Belichick doesn't talk to the media on Thursdays. "That's any time you get new players, that's what you try to do". "Look, he's been here for a few days, so we're working at it every day, and every day you try to make improvements", Brady said on this afternoon to the media.

On Friday, I asked Belichick how the team goes about acclimating a new receiver mid-season.

"I think we're working at it", Brady said of his budding relationship with the 27-year-old Gordon.

"Like an National Football League receiver looks", the 41-year-old Brady said during Friday's media availability at Gillette Stadium.

Gordon is officially questionable for Sunday night's game at the Detroit Lions.

Tom Brady described his chemistry with new Patriots' acquisition Josh Gordon as a "work in progress", but stressed that his new receiver option was "really eager to get in there and learn everything" during the first couple practices.

"Well, it's taking a segment of whatever the total is and taking the things that are most important and building on that day-by-day as time goes on", the Patriots coach said. I think if they're in there it's up to the coaches to decide those things. "I mean, I don't think anyone is going to put anyone out there if they don't know what they're doing, if they don't know what to do on a play".

"I know that because we've had a lot of receivers come from a lot of different places and there's a lot of memorization, lot of being on the same page and changing routes at the line, changing routes during play and you got to be on the same page". All it cost them was a fifth-round pick, and they got a seventh-rounder in the deal as well. He's only been here for I think two days now so I wouldn't say I can formulate an opinion on him. "But we're just trying to get prepared to play".

"Excited to have him here and he seems excited to get to work". That was the only game Brady saw any action in his rookie season. He was 1 for 3 for 6 yards, the completion to Rod Rutledge in a 34-9 Thanksgiving Day loss. Jones, the Patriots' second draft choice in 2016 and injured all previous year, was cut by the club at the end of camp and was on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad when New England made a decision to bring him back.
