The clash with Real Madrid skipper that saw Salah injure his shoulder and trudge off in the first-half of last season's Champions League final has been well-documented and Keown does not believe the Egyptian has got over it.

Mbappe scored in PSG's 3-2 Champions League defeat to Klopp's Liverpool on Tuesday night and, speaking to RMC Sport (via ITV Sport's Instagram page), the German manager hasn't held back in his praise for the young French forward.

The Egyptian worldwide recovered in time to play for his country at the World Cup and has started all six of Liverpool's matches this season, but is yet to rediscover his record-breaking form of last season.

While last season all the praise was lavished on Liverpool's front three, so far it has been the midfield which has been winning all the plaudits.

"I love him", Klopp said.

"He has been fantastic in defensive situations in recent games".

"You would like to think if we can remain in the game and have a good platform, that will enable us to create chances and take chances if they come around". I would never do that, the players should never do that - only the supporters are allowed to do that.

"The most important thing is physically he is in a very good shape, which helps", said Klopp.

Klopp revealed Dejan Lovren, who has yet to feature in a match-day squad after returning from the World Cup with a hip problem, is edging closer to full fitness. "Did I speak a lot about lineups here in the past? We will see. He is not for the squad for the weekend, of course, but we will see how soon we can try to involve him again".

"Dom trains today, (for the) first time after his concussion". Liverpool is seeking its sixth consecutive win to open the Premier League campaign.

"You want to play at the highest level", the Dutchman added. We are really waiting for him without making pressure on him and we know that it will take a long time. "He's a big miss for us".
