Multiple victims during shooting in Maryland county, sheriff says

The FBI, according to the Associated Press, said the shooter is still active and its Baltimore field office was assisting the local police department.

Harford County authorities responded to another fatal shooting in October, when a man killed three people and wounded two others at a remodeling business where he worked in Edgewood.

A suspect was taken into custody and was in critical condition, Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler told a news conference.

The FBI and the ATF said they were responding to the shooting.

'Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders.

A spokeswoman for Rite Aid told Associated Press that the shooting happened in a support facility adjacent to a larger building. The public was urged to avoid the area.

A family reunification center has been established at the Level Volunteer Fire House, 3633 Level Village Havre de Grace, Maryland, according to police.

Sheriff's deputies said the shooter was still on the loose shortly after 10:45am EST. "For updates please follow @Harford_Sheriff", the agency tweeted.

Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Md.) on Twitter called the situation "just horrific", adding, "I'm monitoring this carefully, and urge residents to stay clear of the area until further notice".

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has extended his sympathies to those affected by the shooting.
