At some unspecified time later today, a PC Blackout Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is due to go live, and as part of the preparation for launch, developer Treyarch has given a few specifics on things players can expect.

It will be launched next month on Oct 12, but those who are eager to catch a glimpse, can pre-order the game to enjoy a week of private beta gaming experience.

As for console players, the Blackout mode's PlayStation 4 beta is already underway while Xbox One players can jump in beginning at 10am PT today, but both require pre-ordering the title.

Teamkill Looting: One of the most upvoted requests concerns preventing teamkillers from looting the bodies of teammates they've killed. Be sure to report them so we can bring the banhammer down.

Audio Occlusion (AKA: Spatial Audio): We discovered and are fixing a critical bug where a player's environment does not properly impact in-game sounds.

Distinguishing Vehicle vs. Player Hits: We've seen requests to make it easier to determine if a player's shots are hitting a vehicle or an enemy in or near that vehicle. Players will know the difference based on the color of their hitmarkers.

You can find out more about Treyarch's development process by watching the full Game Informer interview. When the game is released, footsteps will be properly impacted by walls, floors, ceilings, and other objects in the world. Clunky item management has definitely been a sticking point for players.

Survey: After you've played the Beta, you will be given the opportunity to provide us with direct feedback through a survey. I'm holding out for this weekend's open beta on PC.
