A second human case of West Nile virus has been confirmed in Box Elder County.

There are no reported cases of human WNV in Passaic County, where only seven pools tested positive.

Mosquitoes collected from six other traps in August also tested positive for the virus, but those were in areas of Dresden, Wallaceburg, and north Chatham.

The most recent release from the CKPHU reiterated that "most people infected with the virus have no symptoms at all, or they have flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, body aches and fatigue". Less than one percent of individuals develop serious neurological illnesses such as encephalitis or meningitis.

CDPH encourages everyone to follow the "4 D's" which can help prevent mosquito bites and the spread of West Nile virus.
