Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, responding in a tweet to an open letter by Uber Technologies Inc. board member Arianna Huffington urging him to change the way he works, ruled out taking a different approach. I just got home from the factory. You think this is an option.

Musk conceded in an interview last week with The New York Times that he's overwhelmed by job stress and has been working up to 120 hours a week. "This past year has been the most hard and painful year of my career", he told the newspaper. References to Ambien use and driving while tweeting are fueling calls for Tesla's board to step up its oversight of the company's CEO and largest shareholder.

The volatile exec stunned Wall Street on August 7 when in a tweet not reviewed or expected by the Tesla board announced plans to take the company private at $420 a share and that he'd secured funding for the initiative as well.

The company is now under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission, which had already been probing Tesla's order volume and revenue figures.

Huffington's intervention comes at a time when she has been campaigning in support of the benefits of sleep.
