This first teaser trailer doesn't give much away in the vein of details about the titular oath that citizens are being asked to sign.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday when families gather to feast and enjoy fellowship with each other.

The movie centers on Chris (The Mindy Project's Ike Barinholtz), a "high-strung 24-hour progressive news junkie, and his more levelheaded wife Kai (Tiffany Haddish)", visiting Chris' family for Thanksgiving.

The Oath also stars Carrie Brownstein, Jon Barinholtz, Nora Dunn, Chris Ellis and Matt Corboy. The teaser features Barinholtz and Haddish attending a family thanksgiving dinner that quickly turned into a violent and chaotic mess due to the family's different political views.

The Oath will hit theaters this October, a new comedy about "Thanksgiving in the age of political tribalism".

What: A trailer for the upcoming comedy, The Oath. But as the Thanksgiving deadline to sign approaches, the combination of sparring relatives, Chris's own agitation and the unexpected arrival of two government agents (John Cho and Billy Magnussen) sends an already tense holiday dinner gathering completely off the rails.

It was announced in September of 2017 that Ike Barinholtz was going to write, direct, and star in The Oath. He is also serves as the film's producer along with Sean McKittrick, Ray Mansfield, David Stassen for 23/24 Pictures and Andrew Robinson. But with Barinholtz, Tiffany Haddish, and John Cho leading the cast, they at least have some amusing people piloting the thing. He first appeared on MADtv in the early 2000s and has appeared in a number of TV shows and movies over the last 18 years. Whether it be relationships, money, or politics, somebody has to push that button that escalates the holiday past enjoyable.
