Coles supermarkets reopen after 'technical glitch' shuts stores

Coles said in a statement all its supermarkets were open and trading again at 10am, citing technical issues out of team members' control.

This morning Coles supermarket stores were closed amid a nationwide computer outage, and shoppers reacted to the debacle using the company's marketing line.

Coles has apologised after several of its supermarkets across Australia were forced to close because of a technical glitch.

It explained that due to "circumstances beyond their control", the stores could not open.

Coles has blamed the closure of stores across the country for three hours on Sunday morning on "minor IT problems".

A significant number of Coles stores across the country were unable to open their doors this morning due to a technical glitch affecting cash registers.

"We apologise" the sign reads, before explaining that "circumstances beyond their control" is behind the problem. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused".

It's understood not all stores are closed.

Coles is yet to comment on the issue, with no update being provided via their social media channels or website.
