Earlier today, Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe both announced that Switch Online will launch in the "second half of September". When the service launches, online multiplayer in games will be locked behind the subscription. We got some details, including the tentative September release date, back in February, but now Nintendo has given us even more ideas on what to expect. One of those perks is access to a collection of classic NES games that have been updated to support online play. 3 will be joined by Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Super Mario Bros. and Tennis. More details, including the exact launch date, will be announced closer to launch.

Nintendo Switch Online will be arriving later in September.

For anyone who enjoys playing certain Switch games online, a subscription will also be required for some games.

If you haven't heard already, the Switch Online price is going to be significantly less than Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus. This includes titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and ARMS. Family memberships for up to eight accounts will be available only for the 12-month subscription option for $34.99.
