I thought about it for the pre-season, but now we have to be in this championship moment. We know that. We have to be more clinical in the right moments, we have to be more aggressive in the right moments.

The Reds were one of the most exciting teams to watch in world football last season, thrilling fans with their own unique brand of expansive, high-octane football.

"We are still Rocky Balboa, not Ivan Drago", said Klopp.

"In the moment it's nothing, it's like scientists-[in theory] it really works".

"We ask if it is a risk - and if it is a risk, do we take it?"

Liverpool spent a reported £176million ($225million, 196million euros) bringing in, among others, Brazilians goalkeeper Alisson and midfielder Fabinho and Klopp hopes to deliver Liverpool's first league title in the Premier League era, with the last of their 18 champions crowns coming in 1990.

Liverpool supporters were crying out for a new shot-stopper following Loris Karius' blunders in the Champions League final last season, which the Merseyside club lost to Real.

"It is hard to win every game, if we see how Wolves, Fulham or Everton act, they are all ambitious". That's the plan - to really go for it.

And while Klopp would like that fortune to change he knows there are other factors which are more important.

"Somebody told me we were the unluckiest team".

"Step by step, we have come closer".

Liverpool face West Ham on Sunday at Anfield and might be without Fabinho who felt ill and was sent home. Dejan will not be available for the weekend, that's how it is. Trent, a bit longer in, which is good; [Henderson] in and full of power, but not too long in - three or four days - but it's Hendo so you always think about him. "We will see, we have no big issues but little things. Joel did parts of training yesterday, like Joe did, so we will see how they are today".
