If the Batwoman pilot is ordered to series, it will air sometime in 2019.

Ruby Rose has been cast as "Batwoman" to appear in The CW's DC Crossover Event in December.

Both Variety and Deadline report that Rose, now appearing in the giant-shark action movie The Meg, has been tapped to portray Kate Kane in both the upcoming Arrow/Flash/Supergirl crossover special and the potential Batwoman series being helmed by Caroline Dries that could air in 2019.

And on Wednesday, Ruby Rose couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she stepped out in New York City on her way to an interview on Live With Kelly And Ryan.

Kate's a fighter, a hero in the truest sense, and one whose dealt with her fair share of foes over the years - most boasting a surprising supernatural focus. "Her Kate will be down to what the writers do".

"The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored", Rose wrote on Instagram.

Elaborating on her state of mind, Rose - who like Batwoman's alter ego, Kate Kane, is an out lesbian - said, "I feel like the reason I kept getting so emotional is because growing up watching TV, I never saw somebody that I identified with, let alone a superhero".

With Ruby Rose now set to play Batwoman on the small screen in her very own show on TheCW, it's likely that there are quite a few DC fans out there are desperate to find out more about the character, and what her introduction to the Arrowverse bodes for the franchise going forward.

The CW: Great, here's Ruby Rose!
