Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has rejected a move to Manchester United, according to several German outlets which report he called Jose Mourinho to inform him of the decision.

Pogba's relationship with Jose Mourinho has turned into a disillusioned one and the interest from Barca has apparently put the ball in the court of the French worldwide.

We last kicked off with a home defeat in 2014, when a Gylfi Sigurdsson-inspired Swansea City beat United in Louis van Gaal's first game as manager. Manchester United's chief executive Ed Woodward is reportedly against the idea of letting the 25-year-old leave the club, irrespective of his troublesome relationship with Mourinho.

However, they are yet to receive any encouragement from the Uruguay worldwide that he would consider a move to Old Trafford and expect him to sign a new deal with Atletico.

Godin, who joined Atletico from La Liga rivals Villarreal in 2010, has just one year to go on his contract with Diego Simeone's side.

Mourinho said on Thursday he is "not confident" of signing a new defender before the start of the season.

However, despite links to numerous targets, United are yet to reinforce.

Although there has been speculation about a deal for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld, there has been no offer from United while Leicester remain determined to retain England worldwide Harry Maguire, who has four years left on his contract.

Leicester manager Claude Puel speaking to Sky Sports News on United's interest in Maguire: "For me it's good for Leicester to keep a valuable player, and it's important to show good ambition for the next season".

"I repeat, pre-season is hard when you don't have your players to work with". He is our best player.

"Harry is happy to remain with us". It is not serious. "We lost Riyad Mahrez [to Manchester City], who was a very valuable player for us, so it was important to keep our best players and have good additions to the squad".

"It looked like I was saying something absolutely out of order, something insane, I repeat: Pre-season hard when you don't have your players to work, that's as simple as that". "We realise this is precious and we want to hold on to it".
