Danny Welbeck's contract expires at the end of the season and Arsenal are happy to sell the forward now instead of losing him for free at the end of the upcoming season.

Arsenal finished outside of the top four for the second year running last season and the club has turned to Emery to take them back.

The Portuguese coach has clearly been disappointed by the club's close-season spending and has rued the fact that, like other top-flight clubs, many of his squad have had minimal preparation having had time off to recover from the World Cup.

A fourth successive top-four finish would represent a good outcome for Spurs, but they will be under pressure from Chelsea and Arsenal who finished fifth and sixth previous year, while big-spending West Ham could push for a top-six finish.

The 46-year-old has won three UEFA Europa League titles with Sevilla, a French Ligue 1 trophy and two French League Cups with Paris Saint-Germain, and has been known for his high-pressing, intensive style of play, which Arsenal have been missing during the past few underwhelming seasons. But Spurs and [Harry] Kane must make use of the current momentum they have before it collapses one day.

The Gunners have also spent £20m on Bayer Leverkusen and Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno to provide Petr Cech and David Ospina with stiff competition. "The question is: Can he show more than he did in the past?" He fails to do so?

A new era is set to begin for Arsenal.

"Alisson is certainly a good man, but not a world-class keeper you'd expect for this price". He's 25 now and made 100 professional appearances so far, 50 of them coming for Roma last season.
