They signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao within a couple of hours of agreeing terms with Madrid for Courtois.

The report claims that the Blues are interested in bringing the 25-year-old World Cup victor to Stamford Bridge as Maurizio Sarri is willing to give him a central role at Chelsea.

The seven-year deal certainly puts Chelsea in a position of strength which had been lacking with outgoing Courtois.

Chelsea kick off their competitive season this weekend at Huddersfield and the Blues hinted the 23-year-old would go straight into the team.

Stamford Bridge has also agreed terms for the permanent transfer of Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid.

Thibaut Courtois is getting his dream move to Real Madrid in a deal that will see Mateo Kovacic join Chelsea on loan for the season.

Madrid's starting goalkeeper has been Keylor Navas, who helped the club win the last three Champions League titles.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri had expressed his desire to bring in another midfielder, despite the recent signing of Jorginho from Napoli.

Courtois is set to sign a six-year contract at the Bernabeu with Chelsea swiftly replacing the Belgian.

Real Madrid also confirmed the deal, revealing that the Belgium goalkeeper will put pen to paper on a contract that takes him up to the end of the 2023-4 season.

Meanwhile, midfielder Willian continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United and Barcelona, even though Chelsea are reluctant to sell the 29-year-old Brazilian.

Kepa had been with Athletic since 2004, rising through the youth ranks.

At 80 million euros, Arrizabalaga will become the most expensive goalkeeper in football history, ahead of Liverpool's Alisson Becker, who moved from AS Roma for 75 million euros earlier in the transfer window.
