The treatment is meant to decrease the mosquito population and minimize the risk of transmission of West Nile Virus.

West Nile-infected mosquitoes have been found in 19 towns this year, including Bethany, Bridgeport, Darien, East Haven, Easton, Franklin, Greenwich, Hartford, Madison, Manchester, Meriden, New Canaan, New Haven, Stamford, Stratford, Waterbury, Waterford, West Haven and Weston, according to health officials. No other details about the victim were released. In an outbreak in 2012, more than 1,000 people were infected and 36 people died across four North Texas counties.

A crow tested positive in Sarnia in late July. Of the 26 Dallas County residents infected a year ago, two died from the mosquito-borne illness.
