The Samsung Galaxy Watch will reportedly be unveiled ahead of its commercial release, with ZDNet South Korea positing 9 August as the arrival date (Samsung have already confirmed this as the launch date for newest phablet the Galaxy Note 9).

Samsung isn't new to the world of smartwatches - its first watch, the Galaxy Gear, came out in 2013. The listing not only reiterates the new moniker of the device but also reveals its screen size. What's more interesting, however, is that the FCC documentation reveals the dimensions of the watch (or at least one of the models that will be available), and maybe even offers a very early glimpse at the design of the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Since then, Samsung has added the Gear S2, Gear S3, and Gear Sport to its lineup, along with a slew of fitness trackers.

According to the FCC listing, the SM-R815's display measures just 30.2 mm or 1.19-inches diagonally making it smaller than the Gear S3, which had a 1.3-inch display.

We first got wind of the new Galaxy Watch concept back in May, via a trademark application made at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In comparison, both the Gear S3 Classic and Frontier feature a 1.3-inch display. A recent report has also suggested that the two models will come in different sizes.

In particularly exciting news, the smartwatch looks set to receive an upgrade in its operating system, moving on from the Wear OS to Samsung's own Tizen, reports Android Headlines.
