Today, United are linked with Robert Lewandowski and Thiago Alcantara ...

Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Manchester United, will reportedly go head-to-head for the signature of Bayern Munich star, Arturo Vidal.

It will be a hammer blow for Mourinho, who knows that he needs to strengthen his squad significantly if he is to bridge the gap with rivals Manchester City, but he may look elsewhere now with the news that Alcantara is not eyeing up a move to England.

TeamTalk are citing a report from the Independent that claims United have identified Lewandowski and Alcantara as possible new recruits with both players facing uncertain futures at the Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski has been one of the most prolific strikers in world football over the past four years after scoring 151 goals in 195 games since joining Bayern but the Polish worldwide has expressed a desire for a fresh start.

It is believed that the Bundesliga champions would be prepared to offload the duo if a club met their valuation.

According to Bild, Premier League giants Chelsea and United both want to take the Chile global this summer, who could be available for £31m.
