The second picture was just the royal family together, and this time the eldest of the Cambridge children, Prince George, offered up a cheeky grin as he sat on his father's lap.

Prince Louis is wearing a christening gown which is a replica of a Royal Family heirloom, made by the Queen's dressmaker, Angela Kelly.

Prince Louis may have been the star of the show, but it was his mother's family that took centre stage for this happy portrait after his christening.

The parents of three shared loving glances with their children as they were surrounded by their own parents and siblings following the church ceremony, all beaming with happiness at Clarence House shortly after leaving the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace.

The Middleton family including Kate's sister Pippa Matthews and her husband James, are also included in the photos, which were taken in the morning room and garden at Clarence House.

Mr Holyoak has previously taken the portraits marking the 70th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip.

"Everyone was so relaxed and in such good spirits, it was an absolute pleasure".

The christening photos are the first without the Queen, who missed her great-grandson's baptism, which took place in a private ceremony.

Three-year-old Charlotte couldn't keep her eyes off her new younger brother.

"I only hope I have captured some of that joy in my photographs".

After the ceremony, the baby prince looked content and wiggled his fingers as Kate gazed down and beamed at him as she held him in her arms.

Writing on Twitter, Kensington Palace said: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released four official photographs to mark the christening of Prince Louis on Monday 9th July".
