The Boomsday Project expansion is set to be released for Hearthstone on Windows® and Mac® PCs; Windows, iOS, and Android™ tablets; and mobile phones August 7th, 2018.

The mad doctor has penchant for bots and bombs, and with The Boomsday Project, he'll unleash a "Mech-related innovation" called Magnetic attraction.

If the concept sounds familiar, that's because it sort of is.

Speaking of madness, this expansion will also introduce Omega cards.

Blizzard has announced HearthStone's next expansion today; The Boomsday Project. This upcoming Hearthstone expansion will bring 135 new cards for the players to collect along with nine Legendary Spells.

Though they've been few and far between compared to other minion types in recent expansions, Mech minions will be back in a big way for The Boomsday Project, bolstered by the introduction of the Magnetic keyword. From an early look, this makes weaker cards more versatile, empowering them to go toe-to-for with higher-cost minions and spells.

"And they'll tremble before the bad power of Omega cards, which give incredible rewards when played at ten mana crystals!"

Speaking of which, it looks like they'll have a new tool to do so. These spells benefit both you and your opponent. When a card like this is played, it'll be a race to see which player can exploit the advantage fastest.

On the single-player side of things, we're getting a mode I'd been hoping to see in Hearthstone for a long time: solo puzzles that test your problem-solving skills and card knowledge to overcome a tricky gamestate.

Only the Rogue's was shown, and it seems like a desperation play. The "Magnetic" ability, for instance, allows you to bolt one card onto another card for a boost of power. Playing it will let you draw up to 10 cards and still have five mana left to play with, but will put you into fatigue and burn any cards that don't fit in your hand. However, whereas Quests were always offered in your mulligan, and served as a mini-objective in the game, the new Legendary spells work just like any other spell, and are shuffled into your deck alongside all other cards.

With hundreds of cards to choose from, featuring a wide range of colorful Warcraft spells, weapons, and characters, players will have limitless possibilities for developing and fine-tuning their deck-building strategies. A new Warrior hero replacement was also teased, and while the card's title was legible, none of the effects could be read. But hey, there's still plenty more to be revealed.

Pre-purchase The Boomsday Project to receive a 50 card pack bundle, a random Golden Legendary card from The Boomsday Project, and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back!

The newest single-player experience coming to Hearthstone via The Boomsday Project is The Puzzle Lab. The Puzzle Lab will be available two weeks after the expansion releases, on August 21.
