John Legend closes in on EGOT with Emmy nomination

According to reports, Legend is now in talks for winning the Emmy For Outstanding Actor In A Limited Series or Movie, as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert.

If he wins the Emmy this fall, Legend will join the dozen people who have won the award. "To do it with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice would be especially cool, given that this was their show from the beginning".

The husband of Chrissy Teigen said it was their "favorite production in the history of the show", and it would be unbelievable if it earned them a membership to the EGOT-club.

NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert received 13 nominations, including ones for stars John Legend, Sara Bareilles (Waitress), and Brandon Victor Dixon (Hamilton).

"13 nominations for Jesus Christ Superstar this morning!" she wrote.

This morning, Samira Wiley ("The Handmaid's Tale", "Orange Is the New Black") and Ryan Eggold ("New Amsterdam", "BlackKklansman") announced the nominations for the 70TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS from the WOLFTheatre at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center.

Tony-winning set designer Derek McLane was also nominated for his design of the 90th annual Oscars, his fifth consecutive nomination for the awards show. "But it's ok I AM SO PROUD!"

Other 2018 Emmy nominees who have previously graced Broadway stages include Sarah Paulson, Megan Mullally, Brian Tyree Henry, John Leguizamo, Diana Rigg, F. Murray Abraham, Tatiana Maslany, Jeff Daniels, Darren Criss, and Elisabeth Moss.

The piano playing singer said he might not act in one, but is considering the possibility of writing songs for another musical. If he wins, he will complete his EGOT and my spike TV award will probably be moved.
