The report suggests that the 59-year-old will receive a three-year contract on wages of €6m (£5.3m) per season.

Missing out on Champions League spots under Antonio Conte was a huge issue and we can not spend another year out of Europe's elite club competition.

Incoming Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly very keen to sign Senegal and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, as the Italian seeks to reinforce his squad for next season.

Sarri's appointment brings Conte's two-year reign at the club to an end.

He faces a hard task at Chelsea, where a tighter transfer purse and reduced involvement from Roman Abramovich has led to reinforcements which have recently been made up of players considered to be either second or third choice targets of Conte.

Striker Dries Mertens, also now at Napoli, could also be a summer signing option, alongside Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

Chelsea players who are not part of the World Cup are believed to be due back at Cobham for pre-season on July 9 but have not been told who will be in charge.

Napoli have often been considered as one of Europe's most entertaining teams, something that'll surely put a smile on the faces of all Chelsea fans, as he could very well be bringing his free flowing, attacking football to Stamford Bridge, and the Premier League.
