'Whitney, ' a new documentary about Whitney Houston's life, claims the late singer was sexually abused by a female family member when she was a child. "We can not reconcile the public's need to know about Whitney's life as justification for invasion of her privacy or the charge against Dee Dee, a charge which neither Whitney nor Dee Dee is here to deny, refute or affirm", she writes, calling the claims in the film "rumour, innuendo and hearsay".

According to the statement, Cissy heard the allegations for the first time just two days before the film's screening at the Cannes Film Festival, adding that neither Dionne nor Whitney's brother, Michael Houston, had heard the claims before this time.

"We can not overstate the shock and horror we feel and the difficulty we have believing that my niece Dee Dee Warwick (Dionne's sister) molested two of my three children", the statement reads, written by Houston. I say, NO, she was a famous person ...

Now, Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston, is speaking out about the allegations-issuing a statement to People on behalf of herself and her niece, Dionne Warwick. Dee Dee died in 2008, having also had a history of drug addiction. Those who knew her best speak candidly about Whitney's struggles with drugs, motherhood, and the trappings of fame that ultimately contributed to her untimely death in 2012.
