Prince Louis, the third child of Britain's Prince William and wife Kate, will be christened at a small, private ceremony overseen by the Archbishop of Canterbury later on Monday, but Queen Elizabeth will not be there, his father's office said.

Uncle Prince Harry and his bride, Duchess Meghan of Sussex, were there, plus his maternal grandparents, Carole and Michael Middleton, aunt Pippa Middleton Matthews and her husband James Matthews, and uncle James Middleton.

The Queen and Prince Philip were not in attendance.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also announced their youngest son's godparents a few hours before the service.

Louis is fifth in the line of succession to the British throne after his grandfather Prince Charles, his father William and his older siblings George and Charlotte.

So you can only imagine my glee at seeing all the pics from the christening of Prince Louis of Cambridge.

The Royal Christening Robe was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose hymns O Jesus, I Have Promised and Lord of All Hopefulness for the ceremony.

Prince Louis' christening will go down today inside The Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace, and now, we know who the little guy's godparents will be.

Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall arrive for the christening service.

Middleton, who is now five-months pregnant with her first child with husband James Matthews, hid her baby bump under the long-sleeved pleated gown.

The Duchess of Cambridge appeared to make a special gesture to involve her tragic mother-in-law in her grandson's christening.

A photo shared by People showed Charlotte poking out her tongue while George could be seen next to her with his mouth agape. The christening cake is actually a tier of the 17-tier wedding cake. For her daughter Charlotte's christening on July 5, 2015, Kate wore a lovely white coat by Alexander McQueen and a white fascinator by Jane Taylor - a similar look by the same designers.

Carter is an old friend of Kate's and attended Marlborough College alongside her, according to Time.
