Meetings with The President of Ireland, Michael Higgins, and with The Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, are both planned.

Since marrying in to the royal family, the new Duchess of Sussex, 36, is expected to be impartial on all political matters - but one Irish politician who was involved in getting abortion made legal tweeted that she was "pleased" with the outcome.

Which Markle did yesterday when she wore a chic black Emilia Wickstead dress to a garden party reception she attended in Dublin, part of her first official global trip with Prince Harry as a royal.

"We're so pleased to be here, for our first official worldwide visit together as a married couple, and we hope it will be the first of many!"

When it came to her accessories the newly-wedded royal stuck simple black accents in the form of a suede shoe and an oversize leather handbag.

"Her dress is identical to one of our dresses", she told the Daily Mail.

Kate and William don't often engage in public shows of affection (unlike their newlywed counterpart Meghan and Harry), so it's nice to see them sharing an intimate moment in the very place their royal love story began.

The wife of Prince William complemented her McQueen outfit with the Dacre brooch, an eye-catching bejewelled ornament that sat on the left lapel of her dress.

Meghan and Harry will head straight from the service to Dublin for a two-day tour.

The smitten couple are now set to visit the world famous Croke Park Gaelic football stadium, meet locals during a walk about of Trinity College and pay their respects at the Famine Memorial.

At the garden party at the British Ambassador's residence at Glencairn yesterday evening, Meghan wore a chic black dress by New Zealand-born designer Emilia Wickstead.
