Disney Delays Indiana Jones 5 Release to 2021

The wait for Indiana Jones 5 just got a whole lot longer.

If Indiana Jones 5 were to make its 2021 release date, it would be arriving right before star Harrison Ford turns 79 years old, making him 20 years older than Sean Connery was when he played Henry Ford, Sr.in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

This is the second time the film has been pushed back: It was originally set to hit theaters in July 2019 before being rescheduled for 2020.

Before that, Mary Poppins Returns is shifting a week earlier in December this year, and the Wreck-It Ralph sequel is staying in place, but undergoing a minor name tweak to simply Ralph Breaks The Internet. The consistent theme here is that they still believe this is a movie that needs to come out in the heart of the summer.

Photographers are reflected in the glasses of cast member Harrison Ford during a photocall for the film "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" by US director Steven Spielberg at the 61st Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, May 18, 2008. At one point, rumors even suggested that Chris Pratt was set to step into Indy's fedora, but thankfully that isn't happening, and Harrison Ford will return. He's still attached to give it one more go as the legendary whip-cracking, snake -fearing adventurer, but he's not getting any younger. Now, Disney has made it official, giving the film a new date of July 9, 2021.

After receiving an indefinite delay and a change in screenwriter, the fifth Indiana Jones movie finally has a new release date.
