I am leaving but this shirt, this crest and the Santiago Bernabéu will continue to feel a part of me wherever I may be. It's widely accepted that Ronaldo will sign a four year deal with the Italian side, earning an astonishing €30 million per season in Turin.

"These have been nine absolutely marvelous years".

In Real Madrid's statement on the website, they said: "Cristiano Ronaldo will always be one of the greatest symbols of the club and a unique reference for the next generation".

"I only have feelings of enormous thanks for this club, this fanbase and this city". I can only thank all of them for the love and affection I have received.

He joined Italian champions Juventus on a four-year contract for 100 million euros ($117.34 million) signaling the end of nine years at the Madrid filled with trophies and goals.

Madrid made clear in their announcement that the transfer was driven primarily by the player's desires.

The 33-year-old Portuguese superstar is moving on in a massive transfer to Juventus of Italy's Serie A. On Tuesday, the much-speculated move became official and Ronaldo posted an open letter to fans on Real Madrid's site.

Ronaldo, who is Madrid's all-time leading goalscorer with 450 to his name, has won two La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and four Champions League crowns during his time with the club.

"Aside from the individual honours, the trophies won and the triumphs on the pitch during the last nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, hard wok, responsibility and self-improvement".

In a letter posted on Real's website, the multiple Ballon d'Or victor said his time in Madrid had been one of the happiest in his life.

But in 2016 Ronaldo managed what Messi could not - winning a major worldwide title for his country - when he led Portugal to victory in the European Championships. He leads all scorers in the World Cup, with six goals for the semifinalists.

The fee paid by the Serie A champions is reported to be around 105million euros (£92.7million) for the five-time Ballon d'Or victor.

"I came to win titles, the first goal is the championship, but then the Champions League is here".
