One dead in Pretoria charter plane crash

Earlier, reports emerged that 20 people had been injured after a plane, marked Martin's Air Charter, crashed at the airport.

Some of the patients said to be in a critical condition, according to Best Care ambulance services' Xander Loubser.

South African emergency medical service ER24 posted photographs on its Twitter feed of passengers being rescued from the crash.

"There is smoke all over and paramedics are on the scene".

ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said that ER24 paramedics‚ along with several other services‚ were now on the scene treating and triaging the injured.

"We have 19 injured casualties ranging from minor to critical injuries at this stage and no confirmed fatalities".

'They are busy treating one of the pilots. and he will be airlifted to a Netcare hospital, ' he said.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson Kabelo Ledwaba said their investigators were on their way to the crash.
