In a center-heavy draft, Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Mohamed Bamba are all projected to be gone within the first seven picks. ESPN reported last week that "it's now unlikely (Porter) falls out of the top seven in the draft".

Porter Jr. played just three games due to a back injury suffered in the season opener against Iowa State.

"Right now, I would say I'm a mix of Giannis and KD", he said. I like bumping into people (and I'm) a little more physical than KD. None of that was really true.

So, just like during his freshman season at Missouri, there are plenty of rumors and lots of uncertainty surrounding Porter.

"The chances of Porter making it to No. 8 are dwindling, with reports of multiple teams ahead of the Cavs considering him - including the Sacramento Kings at No. 2". Porter could supply an athletic scoring punch on the wing that Dallas now lacks.

Analysts have placed him safely within the Top 5.

There was a report that perhaps the Jazz had promised to select Huerter with the 21st pick, but the latest suggests that it was instead the Lakers who had told Huerter that he would not slip past them. That was before the forward then held another medical evaluation session for teams with lottery picks.

In their recent mock draft, USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt, Michael Singer and Sam Amick mention the possibility that the Kings could trade down to select Porter while also picking up a first round pick in the 2019 draft, something Sacramento now lacks.

The Los Angeles Clippers gained an assortment of interesting pieces from the trades of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin to the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons, respectively. Memphis is still trying to contend with aging stars Mike Conley and Marc Gasol. Still, it may be wishful thinking to believe that the 6-foot-10 forward will be available that late in the draft.

Michael Porter Jr. grabbed some attention when he remarked that he was "perfect fit for today's National Basketball Association game" during an appearance on The Will Cain Show.
