England have previously failed in bids to host the 2006 and 2018 World Cups which, at the time, was partly put down to the FA's "arrogant" perception within the FIFA Congress.

On June 14 at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time (11:00 a.m. ET), teams from Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia will kick off the 2018 World Cup at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. Their lone opponent was Morocco.

"A lot of hard work has really paid off by US soccer, [the] Mexican Soccer Federation and the Canadian Soccer Federation to bring it to all three host countries for the very first time in World Cup history".

The United States will be joined by Canada and Mexico in hosting the 2026 World Cup, FIFA has announced. The preliminary bid book submitted by the organizers anticipates 10 American cities at hosts. The intercontinental playoff will be held somewhere in the United States, Canada or Mexico, perhaps in November 2025.

Venues for the 2026 World Cup, which is slated to be the first WC to feature 48 teams, will be chosen from 23 stadiums that now exist or are already under construction. The two highest-ranked teams according to FIFA's rankings will receive byes, while the other four will play knockout games.
