Red Cross Launches Missing Types Campaign To Promote Blood Donation

The Red Cross says the number of blood donors shrinks every year, so the organization has started a new drive to recruit more people to the cause. Blood stocks are also essential in natural and man-made disasters.

The blood bank is seeking between 1,000 and 1,500 donors in New York City, the Hudson Valley, Long Island and New Jersey to help replenish the supply in local hospitals, according to a new release from the center.

Everyone 18 and older will be automatically entered in the Community Blood Center "Build a Better Blood Supply Summer Blood Drive" drawing to win a $5,000 home improvement gift card.
