This week, several reports have revealed exciting details about Microsoft's rumored new hardware, including new Xbox consoles, HoloLens 2 and the much-anticipated Andromeda mobile device.

The reporting comes courtesy of Thurrott, which says that three new devices are in the works.

Sources speaking to ZDNet and Thurott.com have dropped the codename for a major overhaul to Microsoft's Surface Pro: "Carmel". It's worth pointing out that a refresh doesn't have to be a next-gen product and could simply be called the Surface Pro with Intel 8th Generation or something similarly long and confusing. Those same reports have said that the tablet will be powered by an Intel processor, but Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 850 sounds like it would be a better fit running Windows 10 on ARM (at least with respect to battery life).

There's also a third device, Andromeda, that is allegedly being developed by the Surface team.

Also as per MJF, Microsoft is also planning to launch new Surface-branded accessories, including a new headphone.microphone device.

Reportedly envisioned as a "pocketable device to create a truly personal and versatile computing experience", the mysterious Andromeda is now scheduled for a 2018 launch, although nothing's set in stone just yet. She claims it'll make use of USB Type-C ports, something the fifth-generation Surface Pro was missing, and the latest Coffee Lake processors from Intel.
