President Donald Trump's chief economics adviser Larry Kudlow was discharged from the hospital Wednesday and is doing "very well", two days after suffering a heart attack, the White House said.

"Doctors say Larry's recovery is going very well", White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.

He's expected to make a full recovery.

Kudlow, who was White House budget director under President Ronald Reagan, is a fervent defender of so-called supply-side economics - the theory that growth is best stimulated by lowering taxes and reducing regulation - an approach embraced by Trump. We look forward to seeing him back at work soon.

As President Trump was on his way to the historic summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un Monday, he tweeted stunning news about his economic advisor, Larry Kudlow.

"He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center", he added.

Larry Kudlow, 70, had traveled with Trump to Canada for a contentious meeting of the Group of Seven industrial nations Friday and Saturday, and he had defended the president vigorously on television Sunday. Though he has always been opposed to tariffs, he has supported Trump's decision to erect tariffs against both China and key U.S. allies like Canada, Mexico and the European Union, calling them a useful tool. He made headlines recently when he criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for "betraying" the president after the G-7 economic summit.
