Tiger Woods confirmed to the media that he is indeed staying on his huge yacht during the US Open, one of golf's biggest competition.

You can check out the yacht - as well as a photo of Woods in its actual dinghy - below.

The former world number one watched last year's US Open at Erin Hills from afar, still in the early stages of his recovery from spinal fusion surgery and unsure if he would resume his golf career.

"There are a few [players] who have said it's taken them two to three hours from the hotel", Woods said.

"I just had to hit a lot of putts, put in the legwork".

With traffic expected to worsen when the US Open begins, Woods says he would not be surprised if it caused a competitor to miss his tee time - which can incur a penalty or even disqualification. "So far it's been nice to kind of get away from the tournament scene and go there to my dinghy there and just really enjoy it".

Woods has shown flashes of brilliance in nine official PGA Tour events this year but has yet to bring together every aspect of his game in one week to achieve a victory. But he struggled on the greens and after he electrified the crowd at Muirfield Village by briefly putting his name atop the leaderboard on Saturday he finished tied for 23rd.

"There's always something that isn't quite right and that's where we, as players, have to make adjustments". You've seen the tournaments I've played in this year, there's always something.

Woods put on his best ball-striking display of the season at the Memorial two weeks ago.

"Golf is always frustrating, " Woods said. I just didn't feel comfortable and didn't hit many good putts. "The key is to hit putts solid and see what happens".

"I understand it because everyone wants to see a result on Sunday", Woods said. "I was evening looking at a weather forecast for Monday thinking, what's it look like if you happen to work your way into a playoff?" And those greens were quick, and I just didn't feel comfortable and didn't hit many good putts.

Shinnecock is located on the narrow eastern part of Long Island, accessible by just one road. "I've given myself chances to win, which I didn't know if I was ever going to do again, and, also, then again, not happy with the fact that I didn't win because I loved how it felt being there", Woods explained. Can I actually participate in my kids' lives again?
