A raccoon ended up in a most precarious place near the top of the UBS building. Building maintenance got it off the ledge on Tuesday morning, but rather than heading down, the raccoon started scaling the building next door.

Concerned that the raccoon had become trapped, Twitter users called for a host of inventive solutions, including sending up a hot air balloon to take the raccoon to safety.

A raccoon is finding itself in deeper and deeper - er, higher and higher - trouble as it climbs downtown St. Paul's UBS Tower.

Earlier, St. Paul Animal Control had dispatched officials to the roof to set live traps.

Minnesota Public Radio branded the raccoon #mprraccoon, a hashtag that spread around the world.

But an hour later he had still not reached the top, but was taking some time to get camera-ready in light of his newfound fame. "We didn't see it and thought, it went away - that's great!"

By Tuesday afternoon, it was up to the 23rd floor.

The UBS Plaza building is 25 stories tall.

The last update about the raccoon's journey was staff from the local fire department were trying to lure it the roof to rescue it.

The critter even had an account created in its honor, its first tweet reading, "I made a big mistake".
