"We would like to put to good use our four-day match experience in the historic Test match", Stanikzai told reporters on the eve of the game.

Stanikzai admitted his inexperienced unit faced a daunting task in the long format but said they were determined to put their best foot forward. So we still had 12-13 players who were training with red ball, and they've been doing the right things.

"I think there will always be a little bit of disappointment in the players in not being on the same cricket field as Virat, especially". We're happy that we're here and we're playing India and Virat is not India.

When asked about Stanikzai's remark that Afghan spinners are better than India's, Simmons said: "When you look at it, all spinners in this contest will be excellent". And we know right now, Rashid is the most hard spinner to play around. He has not played Test cricket.

The Bengaluru pitch is expected to have some grass on it, but Simmons hopes it will assist the spinners. "But in all the training has been good because it's been little bit separated except for the four players who played the T20s", Simmons said.

"As a Test team, we can not take anyone for granted". They are quality spinners, they back each other. That's the only way you prepare mentally because when you get out there then you understand what it takes.

India's stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane said it was an "honour" to face Afghanistan in their maiden Test but warned his team against any complacency. They have also been part of four Twenty20 World Cups.

Rahane refused to divulge the team combination and said the team is looking to switch off from T20 mode after IPL and embrace Test cricket. Fortunately for us, three of our fast bowlers were not in the T20 squad so they have been concentrating on what they had to do. But at the same time, we look at it as win the Test match we beat India, we don't beat Virat. "We just want to go out there and be ruthless".
