Democratic House race in Virginia highlights primary voting in five states

South Carolina, Nevada, North Dakota and ME also will choose candidates for the November 6 races that could help determine control of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, including two of the most competitive Senate races.

Finally, in Virginia's 4th Congressional District, incumbent Donald McEachin is running unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has endorsed Chris Giunchigliani in the Democratic primary for Nevada governor.

Now, whether you vote Democrat or Republican you're going to notice two questions on the ballot. "Voters will be asked to tell us which one they wish to vote, so that we can assign them the correct ballot".

If you haven't registered to vote, it will be too late to vote in the primary, but you still have until October 15 to be able to vote in the November general election.

It is a different story in western counties, where voters must choose between a Republican and Democratic ballot. An April 12-19 poll by the Nevada Independent and The Mellman Group showed Heller had support of 40 percent of likely voters and Rosen had 39 percent, a dead heat. The only public poll so far in the race, a February 21-24 Gravis Marketing survey, found Heitkamp barely leading, 43 percent to 40 percent, among registered voters in the state.

Democrats have targeted Comstock as a vulnerable seat in the House of Representatives.

In North Dakota, Republican Representative Kevin Cramer is the presumptive challenger to Heitkamp, who is in the fight of her career in a state Trump carried by a whopping 36 percentage points. But Cramer is in his third term in the state's at-large seat, so he has strong name recognition and a record for winning statewide.

"We will win the turnout battle again, and we will beat them soundly", said Mike Slanker, a Republican political consultant in Las Vegas. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA-10)-assuming she withstands her own primary challenge on Tuesday from Shak Hill.

The following candidates on Tuesday's ballot are running in the districts that cover parts of Hampton Roads.

Virginians and the country will be keeping a close eye on two primary races that could have a major impact on the U.S. House and Senate. It lets voters rank candidates by preference rather than choosing just one.

In Maine, four of seven Democrats running for the open governor's seat are women.

On a recent day Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ms. Giunchigliani donned sneakers and a sun hat to knock on doors in one lower-income neighborhood to persuade voters to choose her to run against Mr. Laxalt.
