Florida Woman Smiles In Mugshot After Causing Fatal DUI Crash

Welk rear-ended a Hyundai Elantra with enough force to sandwich that vehicle between Welk's sedan and a tractor-trailer that was directly in front of it, the crash report said.

Angenette Marie Welk, 44, has been accused of causing a crash that took the life of 60-year-old Sandra Clarkson. Upon news of the death of Clarkson, Florida Highway Patrol officials are seeking an upgraded charge of DUI manslaughter.

A Florida woman flashed a carefree smile in her mug shot - despite the possibility of facing manslaughter charges for allegedly crashing her auto while drunk and killing a 60-year-old woman.

Clarkson died a few days later in hospital, Click Orlando reported. Kroll suffered minor injuries while her 60-year-old mother, Sandra Clarkson, a passenger, suffered critical injuries.

Welk reportedly told cops she dropped her cellphone and didn't look up when the crash occurred.

Records show that Welk had problems following instructions during a field sobriety test, her breath smelled of alcohol and her blood alcohol content was.172, which is more than twice the legal limit.

"Our lives changed forever", said Sciacca.

It's definitely wrecked our family forever, not just temporarily, this was a permanent thing that (Welk) did.

Welk, who was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Avalon, was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence, DUI with property damage and DUI with great bodily harm, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

"I think it was a lot of pressure on [Clarkson on] the impact and that's what caused it all to happen to her like that", Kroll told WKMG.

"[I'm] trying to cope with the fact I won't see her walk again, she won't be home when I get home from work or in the mornings when I get home from work".

Clarkson's other daughter, Keonna Sciacca, told the news station that her mother suffered brain damage and a stroke.

Calling Welk's mugshot insulting, Kroll said, "That disgusts me and that means she has no remorse for what she did at all and I hope that judge sees that picture and says the same thing".

'On May 14th Sandy was taken off the ventilator surrounded by her two brothers.
