Sudan Arrests Killer of Nigerian Diplomat

The disclosure was in furtherance to an earlier statement from the ministry on Friday last week over the death of Almu who was murdered in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan.

Almu, whose death has been confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, was reportedly killed in his official quarters on Thursday, 10th May.

A Sudanese woman of Nigerian origin is being held over the murder of a Nigerian Immigration Attaché in Sudan.

It further said she confessed to the murder of the diplomat and that she also stole his possessions.

The Nigerian government condemned the assassination of its national immigration officer in Khartoum and said they would work with Khartoum to arrest the culprit.

The ministry revealed that after several arrests of suspects and investigations by the Sudanese government, it was established that the deceased was stabbed to death.

"It was discovered during investigations, authorities discovered that the suspect had stolen some of the deceased personal belongings including cash".

He added: "Our mission in Khartoum will continue to monitor and follow up the case to ensure that justice is done on this matter".

"For the mean time, the process of conveying the remains of the late Mr. Habibu Almu to Nigeria for proper burial is being finalized", the statement signed by a ministry spokesperson concluded.
