"We are very excited about the likely legalization of sports wagering in the United States".

"Monday's U.S. Supreme Court decision regarding the state's rights to permit sports betting is important to New Jersey's harness racing industry". Casinos and race tracks are celebrating the news; owners say the lift on the ban will generate revenue and a source of entertainment. The new CT law allows state officials "to regulate wagering on sporting events to the extent permitted by state and federal law". The law also enabled Delaware, Montana and OR to have limited legal sports gambling.

Southern Baptist leaders warned there would be harmful consequences from legalized sports gambling.

Now comes an opportunity to give patrons another gaming option, betting on sports.

In July 2017, Gov. Dannel Malloy signed a bill that will allow the state to move quickly if the federal sports betting ban is overturned by the Supreme Court or repealed by Congress.

It's not like casino gaming is struggling in Oklahoma.

"Congress can regulate sports gambling directly, but if it elects not to do so, each State is free to act on its own". "PASPA is not", Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the court. Associate Justice Stephen Breyer joined in most of the majority opinion but also signed onto the dissent with Associate Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor. Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed did not believe it was morally wrong to gamble on sporting events.
