"I geeked out over the piano and synths". The new song is accompanied with a music video showing the aged Backstreet Boys dance like 20 years ago. Watch and listen "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" below.

Produced by Jamie Hartman and Stuart Crichton, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is a slice of chilled electro-pop and bears no similarity to Elton John andKiki Dee's hit '70s duet of the same name.

The 90s favourites - made up of AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell - are set to release their first album in five years later this year, and admitted that while they decided against putting out a "straight-up country record", the idea is still a possibility for the future.

In support of the single, BSB will hit the road for a string of summer dates (including the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series in New York's Central Park on July 13) before returning to their Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life Las Vegas residency. There's no word yet on a full-length followup.

Now donning streetwear-friendly fashion and dancing in front of neon backdrops, the Backstreet Boys in 2018 are in sync with modern pop - so while you may not hear the sugary hooks you were accustomed to in 1999, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is a certifiable earworm.
