According to the McCormick County Emergency Services, a kangaroo has been spotted along the sides of Highway 28 South.

Dash cam video showed the kangaroo had a deer-in-the-headlights moment as it came upon the approaching vehicle.

That's how a deputy captioned a Facebook photo of a kangaroo in the road in McCormick County.

Local news reported the kangaroo was later captured and returned to its owner, a licensed exotic animal farm.

Around 6:30 a.m., a deputy was called to a kangaroo spotting on S.C. 28 near the Georgia state line in rural SC, according to WIS.

Stearns, who's been in law enforcement for more than 30 years, said the early morning call to dispatch was a first for him. WRDW reports that it was back in its pen by late Tuesday morning.

The kangaroo was eventually corralled by its owner.
