The National Weather Service said an EF1 tornado with an estimated peak winds of 110 miles per hour moved along a 9.5 mile path between Beacon Falls and Hamden.

At the height of the storm, over 200,000 utility customers were without power, mainly in the Mid-Hudson Region. In Newburgh, falling trees claimed the lives an 11-year-old girl in a parked vehicle and a woman who was driving.

The cleanup is underway Wednesday in NY after severe storms ripped through the area, leaving a trail of destruction.
